Trump Was Inevitable, like Thanos
A Trump was always going to happen.
But we’re lucky/blessed that it was such a dumb one.
Because, as bad as it is, until the coup attempt it’s been more of a Looney Tunes episode than a Korean horror movie (full disclosure, I watch k-dramas but not the horror ones; but someone I trust said they are the scariest).
He’s helped us find where the house is not baby-proofed or toddler-proofed. Or QAnon-proofed.
He’s found every weak spot and pointed at it. He’s crawled through the dog door. He’s broken the tchotchkes that we hated anyway. He thought he was being super sneaky, getting into the cookie jar. He lied with chocolate all over his stupid face.
And now we can do better.
He, like Thanos, was inevitable in a world that obsessively venerates reality television stars. Both were larger-than-life, seemed to believe what they said, both used people to get the job done, both didn’t care if it meant throwing friends or family under the bus, and both were monsters.
And both of them lost, more than once.
The smoke will clear, the loopholes will be shored up, and the country will go on.
