There’s a technique in masturbation called edging. You bring yourself to the edge and then pull back to delay gratification. This technique leads to a bigger and more enjoyable finish.

That analogy is going to sound extremely irreverent when I tell you what this life hack is.

It’s as old as the Old Testament. It led to many evasive maneuvers by the religious leaders of the time.

Even today, certain religious groups observe it to the letter while breaking it using loopholes.

It’s called taking a day off, aka the Sabbath.

If you’re observant, I am not trying to make your observance trite or exploit it.

If anything, I’m doubling down on what its original intent was.

When you take a day off — I mean REALLY take it off — you rest. You don’t do the dishes or the lawn or the filing or the taxes or wash the dog. You don’t cook or do cold calls or set up websites or line up resumes.

I’m talking naps. Naps in bed, naps in the hammock, naps on the couch, naps as long as needed. The kind of napping that involves REM and dramatic dreams and drooling. The kind of napping that leaves…
