Sometimes people are mean online. Sometimes people are stupid. Sometimes people can’t reason their way out of a paper bag.

Sometimes they’re just trolls from Russian troll farms or someone’s grandma.

And it’s hard not to want to push back.

About 8–10 years ago, I had some people attack me daily, or almost daily, on multiple sites, for YEARS. They accused me of all sorts of things, including murder. We had all gotten along until I disagreed with one of them and called out another one for lying and attacking sexual abuse victims. She later got arrested for false reporting or something like that.

My young son was googling our last name online one day, and he found a blog page that had my name on a photo of a tombstone.

That one was fun. And the lady who posted it had literally married a guy who killed his whole family before she met him, so I think she was angry at someone who was Not Me.

I stepped way back from posting much for a few years after that. I’ve been off Facebook for 3 and a half years, and I don’t miss it. That shit was exhausting.

However, I love reading and interacting, so I still like to post online from time to time.
