and you sort of want to be dead

Your Feelings

Hi. First, let me say I see you. You feel All the Things, and you CARE, and you’re also TIRED of CARING SO MUCH ALL THE TIME.

Because it feels like no one is listening, or at least no one with actual power. And you’re tired of holding back all the water from the hole in the dike with just your one, cold finger. You don’t want to save the world. I mean, you do, but you are overwhelmed and also hungry. But for carbs, not salad.

You don’t have to be okay.

You don’t have to save the world.

Today, you just need to be YOU, and to feel that. Where are you feeling the sadness? In your head? Your tummy? Your back? Your feet? Check in with your body.

Breathe for a second, even if you don’t want to and haven’t done for a while.

Did you do that? I don’t mean to nag, but oxygen is awesome. Try it.

Or Are They Someone Else’s Feelings?

Okay, now take a moment and see if any of the big feelings are not yours, but someone else’s. Like your mom, or your neighbor, or your father, or your friend group. Because those who Feel All the Things also feel other people’s Things, but not in the inappropriate way that sounded.
