Astroworld: A Warning from Four Years Ago
One Redditor’s post aged…well?
I have been taking a break from writing until there was a subject I felt compelled to write about, and this was it. I don’t know if Medium is the place for it.
I am disturbed and horrified about what happened in Houston. There were red flags and ominous build-ups, including a visit by the police chief to the singer in his trailer on the day of the concert. He’s had crowd safety issues before, ones that he instigated, like when he told the crowd to rush the stage.
Scott has twice faced criminal charges related to inciting crowds into over-heated fervors. Before the incident in Arkansas, the rapper pleaded guilty in 2015 to charges of reckless conduct, after cajoling fans at Lollapalooza to climb over barricades and onto the stage with him during his show at the Chicago festival.
Live Nation has also been accused of having inadequate safety measures in the past and are being sued along with the singer for the events of November 5th.
But the number of people in need of medical care — which grew to more than 300 and possibly many more — appeared to overwhelm those resources even before Mr. Scott began performing.
I had already been spending time pondering a dark vibe in Texas after the QAnon event in Dallas last week…
